Want New Countertops for the Holidays? Let’s Get Started!

It is mid-September as this post is being written. It is about this time we start seeing folks visit our Utah showrooms in hopes of getting new countertops installed for the upcoming holiday season. Coming in so late is cutting it kind of close, but with Bedrock Quartz’s seven-day turnaround from template to install you  have enough time to get them in before the holidays. Let’s get started right away.

The holiday season is a time for entertaining. It is when we have friends and family over for extended get togethers that are often too good to let go. And during those gatherings, the kitchen is a focal point. Perhaps that’s why so many people start thinking about kitchen remodeling as autumn approaches.

Solid Planning Is Crucial

One of the first things we would advise is to get busy with your planning. Solid planning is crucial to any home remodeling project. It is especially crucial when time is of the essence. By the time October rolls around, everything needs to fall in place just so in order to complete a countertop installation before the holidays.

Part of your planning process might involve heading to City Hall to get building permits. We say ‘might’ because what you plan to do will determine whether you need permits. A simple one-for-one swap (you are only changing out old countertops with new) likely won’t require a permit. But if you are changing the kitchen layout or doing any work on the mechanicals, a permit is probably required.

Clear Your Schedule

Your installer is going to need your cooperation to get the job done in time.If time is tight, there is less wiggle room. So clear your schedule and be prepared to make a few accommodations.

You are probably going to want to be home when the countertops are installed. That means taking time off from work. Put in for the time as soon as you have a good idea of the installation schedule. Your boss is going to need to accommodate you being out.

The actual time installers spend in your home shouldn’t be more than a couple of days for a one-for-one swap. Plan on a few more days if you are also replacing your cabinets.

Be Nice to Your Installers

Home remodelers and contractors consider fall crunch time. They work hard to get projects finished in time for holiday celebrations. Needless to say, installers are under considerable stress. Not only are they working for stressed clients, but they also have their own holiday plans to worry about.

We say all that to say this: be nice to your installers. They genuinely want to do excellent work for you. They want your holiday gatherings to be as enjoyable as possible. By treating them with respect and courtesy, you make it easier for them to give you the finished product you are expecting. Then everybody wins.

There Is Always the Spring

Depending on when you read this post, there may not be enough time to get new countertops installed-even with Bedrock Quartz’s seven-day template to install-before the holidays. Unfortunately, that’s the way it happens sometimes. But the good news is that spring is on the way.

You can still give yourself and your family the gift of new countertops but delay installation until after the holidays. Have your new countertops installed before you have your first spring gathering. Then invite friends and family over to celebrate the end of winter and the start of spring. It is a great way to show off those quartz, marble, granite, or quartzite counters. Come visit one of our Utah showrooms to start your kitchen or bathroom remodel today.
