Here at Bedrock Quartz, we have chosen to operate showrooms across the state of Utah because we want our customers to come in and meet us. We expect them to come in with lots of questions. And best of all, we are prepared to answer the questions truthfully, transparently, and in the best way possible.
Asking questions is important if you are looking to choose a stone countertop fabricator. The right questions and answers tell you a lot about a fabricator’s quality, reliability, customer service, and installation procedures.
Don’t know which questions to ask? Here are five to get you started:
1. What types of materials do you work with?
A good fabricator will have experience working with several unique stones. The Bedrock Quartz team does. We work with granite, marble, quartzite, and quartz. Our experience allows us to fabricate and install countertops of all five materials.
We can also offer advice about the suitability of each material. Our team can go through the pros and cons of each one, helping to point you in the right direction based on your project specs and your goals for the finished countertops.
2. How do you handle templating and layouts?
Be sure to ask any potential fabricators how they handle precise fabricating and fitting. It is all in templating and layouts. Here at Bedrock Quartz, we use digital templating tools to guarantee precise measurements of any kitchen or bath.
We also use advanced layout software that allows us to precisely place slabs for the best aesthetics and performance. A fabricator still doing things digitally might not give you the best results.
3. What fabrication technologies do you utilize?
Stone countertop fabrication has become highly sophisticated over the last few decades. What used to be a largely manual process involving a ton of intense labor has become more streamlined and precise through technology.
We rely on high-tech, advanced machinery, including CNC routers, sawjets, and automated polishing tools to create highly professional work. Best of all, the tools are put to work by highly skilled technicians who know their trade.
4. What are your policies and procedures for sealing?
A stone countertop fabricator should be able to clearly explain its sealing policies and procedures. In addition, stone countertops should be sealed upon installation. Sealing stone is important because it helps minimize the risks of staining, cracking, and chipping.
Your fabricator should also be able to explain how frequently you should reseal. This includes tips for choosing the right sealant and doing the job correctly. A reputable fabricator will want the customer to fully understand everything about sealing to protect countertops over the long term.
5. What are your policies for installation and warranties?
Be sure to ask any potential fabricators about their installation and warranty policies. If you are like most homeowners, you are going to want some sort of warranty or guarantee. Your fabricator should support you with a comprehensive policy that protects you in the event of chips, cracks, or seam problems.
As for installation, some fabricators contract the work. We install everything we sell here at Bedrock Quartz. We think that’s important for the simple fact that we want to make sure our customers across Utah are taken care of to the highest possible standard.
Getting answers to your questions is key to making a wise choice. So before you choose a stone countertop fabricator, ask away – especially if you are visiting one of our showrooms. Do not be afraid to dig as deeply as necessary to ensure that your ultimate choice is the right one.
