The start of a new year often represents the start of something new and fresh. A long year is over, and it is time to wipe the slate clean, so to speak. In our business, the new year tends to bring with it plenty of excited customers looking forward to kitchen and bath remodeling projects. With that in mind, we have a question: is 2024 the year for your dream kitchen remodel?
Perhaps you’ve been saving all year in anticipation of gutting the kitchen and starting over. Or maybe you are just going to replace cabinets and countertops rather than going all the way down to the studs. No matter the case, kitchen remodels can be a major undertaking if not thought through properly. We trust that you and your family have done plenty of thinking about your dream kitchen over the last year. Now it’s time to get moving.
Design Around Your Needs and Wants
Every kitchen remodeling project begins in the design stage. This is where you take the concepts in your brain and put them into a workable plan. Here’s a tip we have gleaned through our own experience in this business: design around both your needs and wants.
There are certain things you need in your kitchen to maintain functionality. They are non-negotiable. But don’t limit your design to function only. Do not limit yourself to a completely utilitarian space that you only marginally enjoy. Try to work some of your wants into the design as well.
When all is said and done, you will be spending a lot of time in your newly remodeled kitchen. You might just as well enjoy that time as much as possible. Some of the things you want, but don’t necessarily need, can make the experience more enjoyable than it otherwise would be. There is no harm in doing so if you can afford it.
Consider Materials Carefully
Both function and aesthetics are heavily influenced by material choices. This is one of the reasons Bedrock Quartz put so much emphasis on stone countertops and high-end fixtures. Materials like quartz, marble, and granite offer so much more than wood and laminates. As for fixtures, the old adage is true: you get what you pay for.
Investing in quality materials pays off in the long run. Higher quality materials tend to be more durable. They also tend to retain their aesthetic appeal for longer. We would never recommend busting the budget by investing in materials you can’t afford, but we do recommend shooting for the highest quality it fits in your budget.
Enjoy the Process
Designing your new kitchen is going to be exciting and fun. Ditto for choosing your materials. But when the construction process begins, some of the luster might start to fade. Remodeling is still construction work at the end of the day.
If we could offer one bit of advice in this regard it would be to do your best to enjoy the process. We get the fact that doing so sounds foreign. But remodeling is what you make it. By focusing on the positive and looking for things about the construction process you can truly appreciate, you should be able to avoid some of the unnecessary negatives that often make remodeling projects difficult.
In the meantime, Bedrock Quartz is here to assist with modern countertops, backsplashes, fixtures, and more. We also install everything we sell. Best of all, we back up both our materials and installation with unforgettable customer service. Put us to the test if 2024 is the year for your dream kitchen remodel.
