Aesthetic appeal is a primary motivation for choosing quartz when replacing old, laminate countertops. That being the case, so many of our Utah customers want to be sure that their new quartz countertops go well with their existing cabinets. If this sounds like you and your cabinets are white, you are good to go.
White Is Extremely Flexible
A big advantage of making white a primary-colored choice is that it is extremely flexible. White can accommodate so many other secondary and tertiary colors. Another way to phrase it is to say that white goes with everything.
So many homeowners appreciate white because it is clean. It easily gets out of the way when a homeowner wants to highlight something else – like quartz countertops in the kitchen. Better yet, combining white cabinets with quartz countertops opens a veritable floodgate of opportunities.
Creating the Perfect Look
White cabinets work so well with quartz countertops that some of the customers visiting our showrooms have difficulty deciding on the actual quartz they want. A pure white quartz countertop lends itself extremely well to a monochromatic look. There is a downside however: excessive brightness. The way to get around it is to accent with darker colors.
If you’re not into pure white, there are plenty of other options for quartz:
- White With Marble – White quartz with marble-like veining keep with the color scheme but add visual texture and interest.
- Gray – A gray quartz gently offsets white cabinets without being excessively bold. Gray countertops actually look quite sophisticated in an all-white kitchen.
- Beige and Brown – Complementing white cabinets with beige or brown quartz creates a warm and welcoming contrast that is gentle on the eyes. The darker colors even draw away some of the excessive light to cut down glare.
Because quartz is a man-made product, the looks manufacturers can achieve are virtually endless. This means you can create the perfect look – whatever it might be. If you want darker countertops in a solid color, it’s easy enough to do. The same goes if you want a bold veining pattern that really pops. You can do a lot with quartz.
A Very Practical Material
Note that there are some very practical reasons to pair white cabinets with quartz countertops. For starters, maintaining the clean look of white cabinetry can be a challenge. You need to stay on top of it. Therefore, you don’t need any extra work to take care of your countertops.
Quartz countertops are:
- Easy to keep clean.
- Stain resistant.
- Durable enough to last for decades.
A minimal amount of care can keep quartz countertops looking new for as long as you own them. Clean them with an all-purpose cleaner, wipe up spills right away, always use trivets or potholders, and use a cutting board whenever working with knives. That’s about it.
Designing With White in Mind
Whether you are looking to replace just the countertops or are planning a full kitchen remodel, designing with white in mind is not a bad choice. White-on-white creates a blank canvas through which you can highlight other design elements. Add some color with a backsplash and accent with some unique hardware. You are the artist; use your canvas in whatever way you see fit.
